Note: Baikô VI first played the role of Sayuri in Tokyo at
the Kabuki-za in October 1904.  Depending on the precise
publication date of this print, it is possible that Shunsen
modeled this print after one of Baikô VI's performances
at the Teikoku Gekijô in March 1913, April 1918, or
April 1922.

1928, as well as in a film version released in 1925.    I cannot
rule out the possibility that this print reflects one of those

Note:  Utaemon V first played the role of Yodigimi in this
play in Tokyo at the Kabuki-za in November 1918.  He
also played the character in a play called Kiri Hitoha
( 桐一葉) at the Kabuki-za in October 1919 and at the
Hongo-za in October 1924, in a play called Ôsakajô
(大阪城) at the Kabuki-za in January 1921, in a play
called Seki-ga-Hara at the Kabuki-za in April 1925, and
in a play called Yodogimi Odawarajin (淀君小田原陣)
at the Kabuki-za in April 1926.  It is possible that this
print reflects Utaemon V's performance in one of those
 other productions.
