Kunisada had died in 1920) was originally
issued in a slightly different color
scheme circa June 1919 when Kichiemon
I played this role at the Kabuki-za.

Note: Hikosaburô VI first played this role in Tokyo at the
Teikoku Gekijô in February 1918.  He also played the role
at the Shinbashi Enbujô in February 1919 and February
1920, and at the Asakusa Shochiku-za in February 1921.
It is possible that Shunsen modeled this print on one of
                    these other prior performances.
